A handsome Victorian silverplate coffee or hot water pot in a classical ewer form, marked EPBS for Electroplated Britannia Silver. With its sculptural silhouette, hinged lid, pedestal base, and insulated handle, this is the kind of decorative silver that brings depth and character to a collected home.
Originally discovered heavily tarnished among estate pieces, the quality of the form and weight immediately suggested something worth researching further. After careful cleaning and hallmark study, the piece revealed itself as a beautifully detailed example of late 19th to early 20th century silverplate craftsmanship.
Substantial in size and highly displayable, this piece works beautifully as both functional serveware and decorative tabletop silver.
WHY WE LOVE IT
The silhouette is what makes this piece special — elegant proportions, classic detailing, and the warm patina only older silverplate develops over time. It has the presence of much finer silver while remaining approachable and easy to style.
STYLING NOTES
Beautiful layered into a traditional dining room, English-inspired kitchen, bar cart, or collected silver vignette. Also striking styled with branches or seasonal greens on a sideboard or mantel.
