Hand carved with remarkable detail and fitted with its original leather presentation case, it embodies the artistry that made Austrian and German meerschaum pipes prized by collectors at the turn of the twentieth century.

Over more than a century of careful use, the meerschaum has developed the warm honey and amber coloration so highly valued by collectors. The openwork carving remains crisp, with expressive facial details and flowing drapery, while the original amber-colored mouthpiece and fitted case remain with the pipe.

The interior case retains its original silver retailer's label reading "Ware Fancy Goods – Genuine Meerschaum," offering another charming period detail, even though the merchant's full name has been lost to time.

The carved meerschaum bowl displays beautiful natural coloration and appears free of visible structural cracks. Original metal bowl rim remains intact. Original amber-colored mouthpiece retains an old chip at the button and bit, shown clearly in the photographs. Airway remains open. Case shows expected wear from more than a century of age, including scuffs, edge wear, and losses to the exterior covering. Interior retailer label is partially worn but remains legible.
